Tartuffe
Join us for an unforgettable baroque experience of Molière’s Tartuffe (otherwise known as The Impostor or The Hypocrite). This play, first performed in front of the Sun King himself in 1664, tells the story of a family ripped apart by a manipulative charlatan and features some of the most memorable characters in French literature. The splendour of the Clifton Club, the impressive period costumes and live music with instruments of the time, should prove to be the perfect backdrop for this witty and wonderfully satirical farce.
There will be an interval of 25 minutes where you can sample macarons & ice cream prepared by the chef at the Clifton Club, delight in the baroque music and enjoy a variety of drinks in the Drawing Room. Two delicious & traditionally French cocktails can be purchased along with your tickets: the Kir Royale and the French 75*.
Black tie, while not necessary, is certainly encouraged. Doors open at 7. Commence at 7.30. Carriages at 10.
We look forward to welcoming you as our esteemed guest, à bientôt!
