CADS are putting on a production of the Importance of Being Earnest at the end of August and we need YOU!
The Importance of Being Earnest, ‘A Trivial Comedy for Serious People’ was first performed in 1895 and has charmed audiences ever since. On the surface, it is a delightfully frivolous and humorous story of thwarted love and mistaken identity, but underneath there is a wonderfully written satire of Victorian cultural norms and social commentary.
Come along to auditions and join us in breathing life into this gem of a play!
The shows will be performed at the stunning Clifton Club right in the heart of Clifton Village. The luxurious regency décor will undoubtedly enhance the authenticity of the production.
If you are interested please sign up for an audition here. Please note that auditions are open to all, but once you are offered and accept a part you will need to join CADS as a member (£20 annual fee, covers up to 31 December 2024, or £13.30 show fee for one show).
Important dates to consider:
- 9th and 11th April – auditions (Highbury Vaults, St Michael’s Hill on 9th and Somerset House, Clifton Village on 11th)
- 15th April – call backs (Clifton Village venue will be given when you are invited for call backs)
If you can’t make those dates please let us know by emailing socials@bristolcads.org.uk as we might be able to accommodate you. We will be sending out the audition parts beforehand.
- 16th May – read-through
- 21st May – rehearsals start. Rehearsals will run every Tuesday and Thursday (you will not be asked to come to all rehearsals and there will be some flexibility here) until Thursday the 22nd August
Show week
- Tuesday 27th August from 2pm at The Clifton Club – dress rehearsal/tech rehearsal
- Wednesday 28th August – A members-only performance for the Clifton Club
- Thursday 29th August, 7.30 pm – public performance
- Friday 30th August, 7.30 pm – public performance
- Saturday 31st August, 2 pm – public matinee performance
- Saturday 31st August, 7.30 pm – public performance
