Show Updates

Shakesbeer 2018

  • Louise talked to Paula about using Clifton Library as a base of operations for the show again in 2019. Paula will check with The Library if this is okay.

  • We still don’t have the details of the treasurer for Clifton Library so cannot pay them the money that we owe them for the 2018 show until we do. Again, Paula has been bugging them for this information

  • Kate would be up for directing again

  • In 2019 we may have to use the Library just for the shows and rehearse elsewhere. This would also mean a no split of profits with The Library if we are just hiring it for a venue.

2019 Panto

  • Newman Hall venue is booked for the week of 18th-23rd November 2019.

  • Several interested parties have already expressed an interest in writing scripts.

  • Deadline for a complete script is May 2019 to allow for editing and directorial oversight etc.

  • Auditions should be before the summer holidays, end of June/start of july

  • Jos interested in directing

  • James Horsburgh would be up for Musical Directing again

  • Script parameters: Short, family friendly, ‘Disney factor’

One Act Festival

  • There are two One-act-festivals, the Avon One act Festival in March and the Bristol One act festival in February 2019.

  • Groups pay £30 to enter and buy some tickets.

  • CADS to put a call out for anyone who is interested in being a part of the bristol one act festival.

  • Interested parties would have to provide the script themselves .

  • It is also a competition, so if you win, you go to regionals and then national finals.

  • 5 plays per night over 3 nights

  • Good opportunity for original writers

The Anniversary (Lucy Black (Deputy Treasurer) arrives)

  • Going very well

  • Act 1 and Act 2 done recently

  • Rehearsals for the kissing scene are going well 😉

  • Sound and Lighting managers are now on board, also others interested in working backstage.

  • Props are coming along well

  • Tickets are selling well

  • Alma Tavern has put in a £1 booking fee per ticket, which has meant that we have had to in turn increase the price of our tickets from £11 to £12.

  • Entered for the Rose Bowl Awards again.

  • Rose Bowl people need a copy of the script, we need to know if we can send them a PDF or is we have to post them a physical copy?

  • Get in 14th November at 13:00

Socials

  • October 15th is the read-through for Frankenstein’s Guests https://bristolcads.org.uk/news/early-halloween-15th-oct-workshop-and-social-everyone-welcome

  • Panto Wars: December, best week 6th-13th, depending on venue availability

  • Take a panto , split it into 3 or 4 chunks and do a script-in hand rehearsed reading in groups.

  • Venue? Redland park? Lansdown? Louise to investigate. Jos to investigate Hope Chapel in Hotwells (where sword fighting workshop was held)

  • 6:30 start with fish and chips dinner

  • 7:30 start acting

  • £10 entry fee with food.

  • £5 just to act

  • Definitely pay in advance via BACS or Paypal as we’ve had problems with that in past years.

  • 13:00 for food, 14:00 for meeting
