CADS proposals and committee meeting 07/11/17

  • Tom Bloom
  • Megan King
  • Lucy Black
  • Louise Waller
  • Jocelyn Egginton

Tom Bloom proposed doing a rehearsed reading of Arcadia by Tom Stoppard. Approximately 8 to 12 characters. Quite long so Tom will produce an abridged version. Jos also has a copy of the script. Tom is around until summer 2018.

Proposed to do upstairs at the Redland Park United Reformed Church on Whiteladies.

The Proposal was voted on and accepted unanimously.

Would be good to indicate the different time periods with some costumes.

We have blacks to use to make a basic stage with entrances.

MEGAN to check RPURC for dates in Feb 2018 – Saturday, 10 am to 11 pm.

JOS to send Sally at RPURC’s email address to Megan.

Committee meeting

  1. Minutes of the last meeting: approved.

  1. Entertaining Mr Sloane show report

Lucy presented the show report. The show made £590 profit. One big expense was rehearsal venues; using the Bristol Improv Theatre (BIT) cost £37.50 per night but was regarded as a very good venue.

The Rosebowl adjudication had been sent to the Chair only.

JOS to forward the email to the committee

LUCY to send the email on to PAUL

  1. Show update – Sleeping Beauty

Rehearsals are going very well. All actors are very good, just need to learn their lines!

Plans for show week are shaping up. Tom Brown can borrow a van from work which will make logistics easier, such as getting flats.

Need more publicity, especially on Facebook which is probably most effective. Posts with images always do better. Remember to always include a link to where people can buy tickets.

JOS to remind the producers to always include ticket link.

MEGAN to use CADS funds at her discretion to boost Facebook posts she thinks are worth it.

Is it worth adding a separate event for the CADS matinee?

Post meeting note: we have over 80 seats sold for the matinee, so probably not!

Might be worth contacting mummy bloggers in Bristol and Bath. Note that Netmums is not for selling stuff!

MEGAN to check if there are any Christmas fairs near Westbury in early December.

Is it worth asking local pubs that do Christmas food to sponsor by putting an ad in the programme?

  1. Socials

Bad Romance too: suggested doing 27 November? Possibly too close to panto.

TOM to ask BIT if we can hire the bar

LUCY to ask the Lansdown if it’s free.

MEGAN to do the prep for the event.

Post meeting note: Bad Romance is booked for Monday 15th Jan in the Lansdown. MEGAN to do a Facebook event.

JOS to update the event on the CADS website.

  1. Workshops

We have booked in a Sword fighting workshop at Hope Chapel in Hotwells for Saturday 17th March 2018. Venue is provisionally booked but not yet paid for. Tom Bridges is helping with running it.

JOS to ask Arabella Butler and Eric O’Brien if they could also help.

  1. Finance

The HSBC account is now closed.

PayPal is finally set up with limitations removed.

Barclays account is going well so far.

LUCY to write a letter of complaint to HSBC.

Jos has sent ID info to get set up as 3rd member on Barclays to them AGAIN!

  1. Date for next meeting

JOS to move the date of the next meeting to Monday 4th December.
