Auditions for Carpe Jugulum

CADS is now auditioning for roles in our Halloween production of Carpe Jugulum which will be taking place in the Station on Silver Street, from Wednesday 29th October to Saturday 1st November 2025.

The de Magpyrs are the sort of vampires that would have Count Dracula spinning in his grave: modern, forward-looking and no longer afraid of holy water, garlic and religious symbols, or, indeed, of anything else. This makes them very, very dangerous. Luckily for the Discwold, the witches of Lancre are on hand – and the battle is on!

With 37 roles on offer this is going be a show you can really get your teeth into! Some of the parts are just a few lines so we will be looking to have several cast members take on multiple small roles – a chance to show how versatile your acting skills can be. We are also looking for a coven of witches, a family of vampires (fangs will be provided!) and a whole host of assorted characters from the award-winning genius of Terry Pratchett.

Carpe Jugulum audition info

Important dates to consider:

  • Auditions will be held on Mon 7th and Tues 8th July, with call backs on Wed 9th July, at the Highbury Vaults on St Michael’s Hill. If you can’t make one of those dates, please let us know and we will try to accommodate you.
  • The read-through will be on Thurs 17th July.
  • Rehearsals start on Tues 18th August and will run every Tuesday & Thursday (you will not be asked to come to all rehearsals and there will be some flexibility here) until Thurs the 23rd October.
  • There will be weekend rehearsals on 17/18th October (exact dates tbc) and Sunday 26th October.
  • The tech and dress rehearsals at the venue will be Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th October.
  • Performances will be on Wed 29th, Thursday 30th and Friday 31st October and a matinee & evening show on Sat 1st November 2025. The Saturday evening show will start at 6 pm as we have to get out of the venue by midnight!
